While Broadway Market is clogged with whippet-walkers, busking indie bands and buggies, Netil Market (just a gourmet loaf's throw away) is an altogether more sedate affair. It’s the brainchild of a local creative community based nearby at Netil House which has focused on giving space to local designers, and spills out of a little yard just behind the main building, with vintage homewares lined up along the pavement to welcome you in. On top of a dozen permanent stands – among them a bike mechanic, a coffee roaster, a vintage glasses shop and a florist – there are extra market stalls that move in every Saturday, selling mainly crafts, clothes and trendy homewares.

There are as many good eating opportunities as there are shopping ones; the street food stalls here are very fine indeed. The wildly successful Taiwanese restaurant Bao found its feet in Netil Market, and their permanent bao bar has a just-as permanent queue. Also worth saving space for are LemLem's afro-tacos and Morty & Bob's cheese toasties, among other things. The market's open from 11am-6pm every Saturday, and there's some seating for those who prefer not to eat on their feet.

great community of unique mix of micro shops and eateries. Brilliant evening atmosphere at the weekend.

More eclectic than Broadway and consistent traders make this our regular Saturday pit stop (we're locals so it's also the handiest place for good coffee & spicy wings)

Easily overshadowed by Broadway Market just a stone's throw away, Netil Market is cosy, yet offers quality food and quirky stalls. I tried the grilled cheese and was suitably impressed. You won't spend too long here due to the small size, but you'll enjoy that tiny snatch of time you do.

The best little market in Hackney. Like family of friends and music with a little bit of shopping and food and beverage x

I stopped here last Saturday for the monthly Yard Sale. As others have said, it is quite tiny but it wasn't overtly crowded so pleasant. The sunny weather certainly cheered the mildly bustling atmosphere. A decent mix of clothes vendors. Some of the food vendors were open: jerk chicken, pizza, BBQ and Eritrean. I opted for the pizza which I regret: like 99% of places in London it looks good and tastes mediocre. I ordered the veg option and had goat cheese added (no extra cost, which was nice). Many of the food vendors accept card but some are cash only. The clothing vendors accept cash only which is also dumb. The one truly awesome thing was the seating atop the pizza place. It was smack in the sun so we sunbathed for a few hours with no one else joining the seating area.
