I bring all my visiting American friends who think they know the true London here and they're amazed at this secret passage (well, it used to be secret until everyone else found it). You'll forget you're on busy Oxford Street and find buzzing restaurants, cafes and shops on and around the passage. It's a shame that all the unique shops have been replaced by chain stores, although trying out cosmetics at L'Occitane here is always fun. There is a particularly good Carluccio's here, as well as Patty and Bun down the street (be prepared to queue for their delicious burgers). The whole area (down to Wigmore Street) makes for great browsing and wandering.

I recently came here to see the flower installation, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon with a free photobooth, free sangria, free coffees/tea from Pret and we also learned about the art of flower pressing! I think St Christopher's Place is a hidden gem behind the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street - with lots of great chain (Carluccio's, Nando's, Patty & Bun, Pizza Express) as well as independent restaurants and shops that are ideal to visit if you want to avoid the rest of Oxford Street and Bond Street and grab a quick bite to eat. I would definitely recommend during the summer - where there's a little spot on the square to sit besides the fountain, soak up some rays and relax!

Find the secret passage from busy Oxford Street and not only will you feel that you're going back in time but you will also be rewarded with some respite from the hectic shoppers. Although it is now somewhat overrun by chains, St Christopher's Place is still my number 1 spot for a quick bite to eat whilst shopping on Oxford Street.
