A new re-imagining of Puccini's classic is set in the townships of present-day South Africa by the talented Isango Ensemble from Cape Town. The magnificent score is played by an orchestra of marimbas and steel pans, together with the superb voices and acting talent of the Ensemble (which won huge acclaim when used in 'The Magic Flute' in the company's last visit in 2008). The soprano Pauline Malefane (Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute) sings Mimi. (Showing in repertory with Isango Ensemble's 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists' and 'Aesop's Fables'.)
