Unicorn Theatre

London's finest kids' theatre

This light, bright children's theatre has two performance spaces and an increasingly formidable reputation. Current artistic director Purni Morell has reenergised the venue with a boldness rarely associated with this sort of work. She's made astute use of the Unicorn's hefty ACE grant, bringing many 'grown-up' playwrights and directors on board to offer fare for older children that's routinely praised by forward-thinking adult theatre buffs. That's not to say everything there is massively challenging, or that there's nothing on offer for the little 'uns: there's usually plenty, especially during school holidays.

As well as great shows for kids I am now coming once or twice each year to see shows which speak very much in intelligent ways to the adult audience

A lovely, thoughtful theatre with a programme that's adventurous, considering that it's for children.
