Exeter Lucia 2020 – Bring on the Light

Lately it feels like the sun has given its notice from a job it’s always hated and has now completely checked out. That so-called ‘brightest star’ is putting in what, two, three hours a day? Bone idle. Unacceptable. In Sweden, the dark winter evenings are interrupted each advent on St Lucia’s day with a candle procession and traditional songs, and we want in. Exeter’s Lucia singers have been beaming up the south west with their December concerts for more than a decade. This year, the whole thing is going online. Atmospheric, mesmeric, with a little touch of folk horror. Perfect.
