This Stables Market restaurant and bar is pretty well known - it briefly flirted with being the place to be seen a few years ago, and it still proves a popular spot for many hitting town for a night out. The intricately extravagant interior - a bold homage to Babylonia - helps it retain some of its early-days glamour.
Despite the decor, the food focuses on pan-Asian crowd-pleasers. Dishes range from dim sum, sushi, and salads of crispy duck and watermelon to soft-shell crab tempura, beef bulgogi, Thai green curry, five-spiced baby chicken and steamed red snapper in a Szechuan broth with bok choy and edamame. Sirloin of wagyu beef, served with three sauces, provides an extravagant option.
There's plenty of scope to shell out on the wine list too, though some are available by the glass and there are a few bottles priced between £25 and £30. Classic and signature cocktails prove popular.

Wow! What can I say? Awful, just awful! From the moment I got on that escalator i could tell the place is in desperate need of a refurb. The main room also had that very tired and dirty look about it unfortunately. To start I had the fried chicken wings that can only be described as meh. Why they choose to put store bought crispy fried onions on them I'll never know??
The main was the beef short rib which actually wasn't bad but I was still wondering exactly how this was an Asian dish???
My wife had the salmon & avocado sushi to start which she didn't think much of and also had the beef, we decided to skip dessert! Oh and as I am writing this my wife is now throwing up!
Avoid like the plague if you want my advice!
Haven't been there for a while. Used to be very busy, now very quiet. The food was OK at best, used to be great. The service was poor in the extreme and very slow. The ownership has changed hands which explains everything! Probably some private equity set up. There is no proper management. The new owners must have lots of complaints, so much so, they have a dedicated complaints department who wont speak to you, only email. When I phoned to convey certain issues I had the staff were rude and flippant which prompted me to write this review. This is no longer a destination restaurant. To be avoided. There are too many better places to choose from.
A nice place to eat although slightly overpriced we ordered Thai red curry with chicken .. we had to wait to see if the chef would cook the chicken to add the the curry.. then at the end of the night the bill £72 so I paid £80 cash never did see my change or the waitress again
I've been to Gilgamesh a few times and this place never lets me down. Always top notch service and mouth watering foods. I never hesitate with bringing any of my friends here to eat. I haven't heard a bad review yet. Planning in having my birthday here next year!
Had lunch there, by the evening I was vomiting. Reported it to the restaurant, not even a sorry. Cow boys running this place. AVOID at all cost.
I thought it was very nice how they had a vegetarian option for the set menu. I didn’t have to decode what dishes had meat in or had to constantly ask the waiter, which can get very annoying sometimes. So I was extremely pleased to see it was all laid out for me. It was easy breezy dining! Lovely dishes, especially the Sweet Potato Curry with sliced Aubergines and other bits in it.
I have heard a lot about this restaurant from my co-workers so I chose to test it out with my boyfriend and Gilgamesh did not disappoint! The staff made us feel welcome from the door and made for a lovely experience. The cocktails were FAB! We are thinking about coming back again for our anniversary! Dining under the stars!
If you're looking for a great Pan-Asian restaurant in London, I would definitely recommend Gilgamesh. Last week I enjoyed some of the best sushi I've ever had and the T'N'T pizza (topped with sashimi!) was a real treat for the tastebuds - 5 stars all round!
I visited Gilgamesh on a Friday lunchtime with friends and was blown away by the stunning interior of the restaurant as we entered. We decided to order a selection of dishes from the lunch menu as you could order three dishes for a very reasonable £12. All of them were delicious; in particular the duck spring rolls and dumplings. I would definitely return!
Took my boyfriend here on Saturday and tried their World's Hottest Chilli Menu. I love spicy food and this was amazing. Never been to Gilgamesh before and will be going back for sure. As soon as we walked in, we felt special. From reception to the restaurant and then into the bar for cocktails afterwards. The ambience is amazing and there is no other place like it in London.
An enjoyable evening I had here, the service was attentive, the food decent and tasty. My girlfriend had the 'fish and chips' lightly battered sea bass done in a tempura style with chunky chips with some delicious sauces, which was nicer than my soya chicken with tea, which was plentiful but a little one sided in terms of taste. Starter was a very tasty fried squid, all lovingly presented. Lovely surroundings and a lively atmosphere, worth a visit as a treat for sure.
I went here over Christmas and after being impressed by the decor, wound up being rather disappointed by the mediocre and long-faced service, hit-or-miss food and sadly anticipatory vibe that the better dressed patrons effused. The experience would've been hesitantly pleasant had it not been for an aggressive and obnoxious waiter demanding to check our reservation and receipt on the way out - something which must be a local specialty since I've never experienced that any any restaurant in the world.
We were very happy with the food and service at this restaurant but the service charge added to all drinks, even if you buy them at the bar, leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Be warned, if your going here for a night out watch what they add to your bill!
Over the top deco with no taste. The main dining room looks like a Balinese junk shop. The tables are closely packed together with no privacy. We sat in the booths in the Babylon bar. The tables are big and leave no legroom. The service was good but the waiting staff have no knowledge of the food and cannot even pronounce the Asian dishes that they are serving. After the meal, they gave us wristbands and invited us to the club upstairs. It was an experience, a whole floor of girls with tight shiny dresses and sky-high platforms coming straight out of the set of The Only Way Is Essex. Oh, and the guys with shiny suits and shiny hair too. If you like Townies and OTT deco, this place is for you. If you just want some decent Asian food, go to Yauatcha or Ukai. They have much better food and 30% cheaper.
Massively average - Decor nice but food overpriced and nothing special. 12.5% service on everything, including on £4.20 bottles of tiger bought and drunk at the bar!!
I read some of the reviews and it seems like I was pretty lucky. Not only this place looks amazing, the food I ordered was absolutely superb. Prawn sushi starter was good, deep fried squid were perfectly cooked and very big portion for a starter. My beef curry main course could not be any better but my boyfriends lamb was the main star and was the best dish we have both had in ages. Choc dessert was good too. We only drank soft drinks and a beer but £60 for the whole dish is still a great value... Definitely recommend.
Went here for dinner for a friend's birthday on the Sunday of a bank holiday weekend, expecting a meal to match the sumptuousness of the decor. The decor and background is fantastic, it is so exotic and just looks amazing. As we were a group, we had to have the set menu, and I am a vegetarian so ordered the veggie option. The food was absolutely TERRIBLE and that in itself would be paying it a massive compliment; starters consisted of boiled cabbage in a roll, a kebab that i could have made on my barbecue, and sushi-style rice roll. Mains were sticky rice, some sort of flavourless mushrooms boiled in water, and yet more boiled cabbage in a bowl this time. We had to ask for chilli sauce to give the meal even some semblance of flavour! The only saving grace was the dessert, some sort of chocolate orange mousse, and that is just because I have a sweet tooth. All of this food for 25 pounds a head, PLUS drinks PLUS a 12.5% service charge. No value for money, and then we were conned and scammed by our waitress into overpaying when we had to pay the bill. If you want good decor, come here, if you want a good dining experience, go somewhere else. I would never recommend this place to any vegetarians for a meal and will never be coming here again. I have been in the bar before, and although overpriced, I would highly recommend it; however the restaurant staff and chefs should be ashamed of themselves. If you come to Camden, get some street food instead, its a lot better!
I highly recommend Gilgamesh. I found the staff to be really nice, the menu choice of food and drink was fantastic and the decor is really something special. Order the crispy squid!
