The past year has been a momentous one for London: sit-ins, strikes, demonstrations, rioting and royalty. The year ahead promises much drama of its own with the mayoral elections in May and the Olympics in July. In the meantime here are some stand-out images from an unforgettable twelve months.
June 21. Londoners both mae and female gawp as women in stockings, bras and basques march from Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square on London's first Slutwalk. The protest, repeated in cities around the world, is sparked by the comments of a Canadian policeman, who advises students to ' avoid dressing like sluts' if they don't want to be victimised.
