With close ties to the now defunct Actors Centre, the Tristan Bates Theatre was a hotbed of new fringe writing, performing and production talent. In. November 2021 it rebranded as the Seven Dials Playhouse, a 100-set theatre that maintained a similar ethos but a bit glossier and lost the Actors Centre – which has caused some controversy.
