Prepare to witness artwork take flight—literally—at LACMA’s Chris Burden: Ode to Santos Dumont from now until June 21. Brazilian pilot and French father of aviation Alberto Santos-Dumont was Burden’s muse for the kinetic sculpture now residing in Resnick Pavilion. Paralleling the same 1901 aircraft that Santos-Dumont once flew around the Eiffel Tower, this handcrafted reincarnation is a sight worth seeing. You can see Burden's work stationary or in flight at scheduled times. It's a ghostly and reverent piece, and a wonderful way to see one of Burden's last works before he died.
