When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When it gives you an abundance of yarn, make art. At least that's what Jim Drain did. During his time at the Fort Thunder artist community of Rhode Island, Drain was presented with an excess of yarn that was once produced at one of the area's old textile mills, which he has since experimented with to create sculptures, furniture, paintings, collages and even an edition of sweaters for Opening Ceremony. Go see his latest show, which includes paintings, wall-mounted sculptures and satirical promotional posters for his own show, as they float through the Prism gallery, and then hear the artist speak about his work at the Hammer Museum.
