MOCA Pacific Design Center presents the West Coast solo museum debut of renaissance artist Ben Jones, featuring new videos and paintings that build upon the artist’s use of extracted and abstracted forms of technology and pop symbols to create irreverent, surrealistic and introspective narratives and environments. Jones has worked with such traditional art media as painting, drawing and sculpture, but he's also animated music videos, produced zines and costumes, furniture and web art, cartoons and music. In addition to his visual art practice, Jones currently produces animated shows, helping to rewrite a modern vocabulary of new shapes, colors and ideas from a visual language that he was obsessed with as a child. In addition to his publications and exhibitions, Jones is the main creator and the voice actor of Alfe and Roba in the Cartoon Network show, The Problem Solverz.
Opening exhibition, for members and invited guests only, is Friday, November 3, at the Pacific Design Center. Not a MOCA member? The museum is offering free memberships for a limited time through its new digital online channel at MOCAtv.
