There are only three things you can do at the Pub at Golden Road: drink superbly-made local beer, indulge in some of the best pub food in LA and have a hell of a fun time doing it. Co-owners Tony Yanow (Mohawk Bend, Tony's Dart’s Away) and Meg Gill offer up a pub modeled after European beer halls where the communal aspect of sharing beer is as important as the vibe, which at Golden Road is very much stay and hang—and that goes for families too. (There’s a designated play area with life-size board games.) All the 20 or so brews on tap—there are also some come canned—are made in-house some “551 feet away,” where curious seekers of beer wisdoms and truths can tour the actual brewery. Tours are offered three times a day from Friday through Sunday (and capped at twenty people, so be sure to sign up when you arrive). There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, cheers from the sports-conscious crowd taking in multiple games on multiple TV screens, and pitchers of beer and rounds of grub.

Good for: Hang with a group of friends for hours, while taking in an entire ball game over rounds of great beer and plates of tasty pub fare like burgers—get the GRB Burger with Angus beef, frisée, caramelized onions, sundried tomatoes, bacon and aged white cheddar—and sandwiches—we like the bahn mi with deep fried tofu, pickled carrots, jalapeños, herbs and Sriracha mayo.
The scene: Friendly and helpful bar staff don Golden Road t-shirts and buzz about shuttling plates of burgers and a stellar (and possibly largest, perfect for sharing) bar pretzel. Some patrons come just to buy beer to-go. While sports is the center of attention for some, most groups are subdued and keep in line with the fairly low-key atmosphere. Once the kiddies are done playing, out come the big kid games—ping-pong, foosball and life-size Jenga blocks.
Drink this: From hoppy IPAs to Belgian-style blondes and brown ales, there’s a beer-style for every beer lover. With lots of seasonal and limited release brews, ask what’s new on tap. Start with their staple Point the Way IPA or go nutty with Get Up Offa That Brown Ale, a chocolaty brew.
