Time Out says

'Race 2' is the English title of this Hindi sequel to the 2008 hit, but a more appropriate one would be 'Twister', given the number of preposterous plot turns that assault our senses at breathtaking speed. At the end of the first 'Race' rakish Ranveer (Saif Ali Khan) witnessed the death of his fiancee Sonia (Bipasha Basu). In this inferior follow-up Ranveer travels to Turkey to avenge her death. Corrupt cop RD (Anil Kapoor) and his clueless assistant (Ameesha Patel) are once again assigned to the case.

For the first hour this mindless masala sting-flick cruises promisingly along. Its amoral, gym-toned and one-dimensional leads indulge in cat and mouse games with each other, strip off frequently and sing inane songs with titles like 'It's a Race' and 'Party on My Mind'.

When the directing duo pull the first, second and even third rug from under us, we are mildly surprised and even amused. Post-interval, with over an hour still to go, all bets are off. The insistence on double and triple crossing us with reckless abandon and little reference to plot logic makes it impossible to care any more. Ultimately, this is yet another superficial style over substance journey which may alienate even fans of star-driven Bollywood vehicles.
