Time Out says

Part of LACMA's continuing tribute to iconic Mexican cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa, this 1947 political drama marks another Figueroa collaboration with Director Emilio Fernández. The film follows a school teacher charged by the president of Mexico to help establish civilization in the pueblo of Río Escondido. Figueroa's vision makes the story of self sacrifice a ravishing visual masterpiece. Call to buy tickets or reserve them online here.
