Tacos Punta Cabras

The Westside isn't exactly known as a taco destination, but Tacos Punta Cabrasis changing LA’s taco landscape. Chefs Josh Gil and Daniel Snukal—they also run the popular underground dining club Supper Liberation Front—recently opened this small, cozy space tucked away on Santa Monica Boulevard. The focus here is Baja-style seafood tacos ($3.50). The scallops, subtly sweet and battered in crispy tempura, are particularly good, and the fresh, chewy tortillas make it that much better. Specials like cardoons topped with a “63-degree quail egg” go fast, so come early… and come often.

It isn't exactly a destination and an alluring place to eat in terms of ambiance, but don't let that deter you. Although the tacos were a bit expensive last time I was there, I was not disappointed. Their seafood tacos are all fantastic and will absolutely satisfy your fix for fish tacos on the westside. They also have a particularly spicy hot sauce that I believe they make in house. It is very tasty but very spicy, so try it at your own risk.

I couldn't love this place any more than I do! It used to be just down the street from my old apartment and it's the perfect little hole-in-the-wall taco shop you've been looking for. All tacos are market price but include everything from fish tacos to scallop tacos and [amazing] ceviche. Whether you're picking up some foo don the go or looking for a quick fix - this one should be on your list!
