Derby City Playwrights is a collective of Louisville writers dedicated to locally grown plays. Co-produced by The Bard's Town, we are hosting our first festival of full length world premeire plays, July 7-24. Casts will gather once in May to do a reading of the script and then rehearsals will begin June 1 and run through July 1 (we typically try and keep rehearsals to Sun-Thurs evenings, but some directors may opt for Sat. day as well). Tech week will be July 3-6. Each full length play will have three-four performances over the three week festival.

Behind the Bus Stop by Eli Keel and Tyler Curth
directed by Joe Hatfield
a play about two brothers coming of age in a poor suburban neighborhood.
Cast:
Trent, african-american, mid teens, older brother
Taylor, caucasion, mid teens, younger brother
Doug, caucasion, mid teens, bully type
Amanda, caucasion, mid teens, dreamer
Alyssa, african-american, a runner

directed by Jane Jones
a play about a woman who returns from the dead and haunts her old apartment. she was housekeeper for the Murphy family and Phoebe, their teenage daughter, is the only one who can see her. The two of them set out on a mission to figure out what Edie's unfinished business is so that she can move on to the afterlife.

Edith, mid 60's, doesn't take crap from anyone
Phoebe, mid teens, wild with strong feminist streak
Danny, late teens, Phoebe's boyfriend
Cecilia, late 30's, Phoebe's mom
Matthew, late 30's, Pheobe's dad
Darryl, early 50's, Matthew's lawyer
Frederick, early 40's, Edith's long lost son

We will also be calling folks in for callbacks from The Bard's Town season auditions on Feb 2 for specifc roles in these and other plays in the festival.

No prep necessary, we'll just have you read from the scripts.
