Join us for this fun workshop and celebrate your body!

An introduction to belly dance movements and history with Jen Weidner.

The movements will be suitable for all levels and can be modified for any ability. We will begin with a 15 minute yoga warm up (led by Carrie Klaus, E-RYT) and then discuss the history of belly dance and learn proper dance posture, hip movements, hand and arm movements and traveling steps, with an emphasis on using moves that are natural to the shape of a woman’s body to find a relaxing moving meditation.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!! Just come and have fun.

Wear comfortable clothing like you would wear to yoga and bring a scarf or shawl you can tie around your waist.

Jen Weidner has been taking belly dance classes and preforming off and on since 2003 in the Louisville area and was part of Gypsies of the Nile belly dance troupe. She has performed at Harvest Homecoming, Georgetown Kite Festival, Worldfest, and other local festivals and at local coffee shops and retirement homes. She took tap, ballet and jazz as a child and has always loved dance of any kind. She enjoys yoga and meditation and is happy to incorporate meditation with belly dance.
