In this lecture, Father Kilcourse will explore Merton's diagnosis of the underlying spiritual issue involved in racism in the United States and Merton’s later attention to racism, pulling from a broad spectrum of perspectives: the Black Power movement and Malcolm; X; Native Americans and other indigenous people around the world; the Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh; and The Holocaust.

Father George Kilcourse is a Professor of Theology at Bellarmine University and a scholar in the fields of Thomas Merton studies, ecuminism, religion, and literature, and the former editor of and frequent contributor to The Merton Annual.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., program at 6:30 p.m.
$5 general admission/FREE to Frazier members and Bellarmine University students, staff, faculty.
