Of course you'll be able to find an Airbnb slap bang in the centre of everything, but often you'll find a real charmer in the outer reaches that show you a side of the place you wouldn't have seen other wise. Having said that, you still want to be able to take advantage of the superb restaurantsbars and nightlife available – especially in a city as buzzing as Manchester. So joins us as we take a peek inside nine of the best Airbnb places to stay.

1. Stylish canalside central apartment

The canal runs along three sides of this stylish apartment, so you can get a glimpse of it from most windows. Located in New Islington/Ancoats, guests here will be able to easily reach the bars, restaurants and shops of the trendy Northern Quarter. Your host also provides fresh fruit, tea, coffee, orange juice and biscuits for your arrival.

2. Artistic duplex

Split over two levels, this well-kitted out flat is just five minutes' walk to the city centre and ten minutes to Deansgate. Guests will have use of the whole place, as well as a parking space in the secure underground car park. Upstairs houses the spacious master, while downstairs you'll find the smaller double bedroom, bathroom and a great open plan kitchen/lounge with a massive window that also leads out onto the balcony.


3. The heritage loft

Set amongst independent bars and restaurants, this splendid city centre loft sleeps three, its exposed beams giving it that New York touch. But at £81 per night, you'll be saving a shedload on flights.

4. Cosy narrowboat on the canal

If you're comfortable in confined spaces, you'll have a blast on this boat. Moored in the New Islington marina, the Whispering Willow is 57-feet long and laid out beautifully. There's a well equipped kitchen, with a fridge, gas hob and oven, a sofa that turns into a small double bed, while at the back of the boat is a full-sized double bed and a walk-in powershower.

5. Chic minimalism in the Northern Quarter

Situated in a Grade II-listed building in the trendy Northern Quarter, this bright white minimalist stay would suit four mates bunking up. Nearby you'll find all the bars, restaurants and nightlife worth seeking, while in the flat itself you have a fully equipped kitchen with tea/coffee making facilities and free wifi.


6. The small but perfectly formed one

It may just be a studio but the clever design of this apartment won't leve you wanting, and it's just £75 for two. Better not have too much to drink though before heading up to bed…

7. Opulent inner-city apartment block

Aside from splashing out on a fancy pants hotel, you're unlikely to get a rooftop pool and gym in your building. Unless, that is, you book aa Airbnb. This incredible apartment block, which sits just a few minutes' walk from the Northern Quarter and MEN Arena, boasts just that. The flat itself is a one-bed, sleeping two comfortably, with a private bathroom, balcony and free use of the aforementioned. The kitchen area, however, is shared with the host.
