Time Out says

Melbourne’s oldest pub has undergone a multi-level refresh

The Duke of Wellington is a CBD mainstay, not least because of its ultra-convenient location just minutes from busy Federation Square and being the closest pub to the MCG. However, this inner-city gem has charms far beyond its prime position.

A favourite after-work drinks spot, long known for its satisfying snacks, the venue has been given a spruce up via a multi-level renovation. We’re talking more than a new lick of paint – although we’re sure the walls will be looking schmick. In fact, a whole new cocktail bar called Arthur’s has opened up on level one.

Tucked away on the first floor, Arthur’s is the new city spot for pre and post-dinner drinks. Head upstairs to sample signature cocktails like the Spicy Watermelon Margarita (Olmeca Altos Tequila, Triple Sec, lime, agave, watermelon, jalapeño sleeves, chilli oil) and the East Side (gin, lime, cucumber mint). You can also try the premium snack menu by executive chef Telina Menzies to complement your tipple. Broaden your horizons with a new selection of cocktails on tap, only on level one. You can choose from the Earl Grey Paloma, Strawberry and Passionfruit Spritz and more.

For the sports lovers among us, the updated ground floor will continue to play all the big games live, with the addition of some brand new furniture to keep you comfy. For those looking for a hearty meal, the level one dining hall has been transformed into a warm and cosy classic pub dining room. The new look draws inspiration from the Duke of Wellington’s history as Melbourne’s oldest pub, and the new menu offers updates on classic pub fare.
