We love our hot cross buns and Cadbury eggs as much as anyone, but a few Melbourne businesses have been taking their love of Easter to the next level with some seriously epic treats. Here are some of our favourite Easter treats that you can feast on – because whether or not you're down with the whole religious component of the holiday, everyone deserves a little something special this long weekend.

1. Pidapipo Gelateria x Baker D Chirico's hot cross bun ice cream sandwich ($8)

What is it: Our two favourite treats combined into one. Carlton gelateria Pidapipo have joined forces with Baker D Chirico for an Easter take on the Italian dessert brioche con gelato. You'll get Pidapipo's limited edition crema and jam gelato stuffed between Baker D Chirico's sticky and spicy hot cross bun. Want to make these at home? Pidapipo is also offering 20 per cent off 500ml tubs of the crema and jam gelato with every purchase of six hot cross buns from Baker D Chirico.

Where you can get it: Pidapipo Gelateria, 299 Lygon St, Carlton. Available now until Easter Sunday.

2. Grosvenor Hotel's couverture Easter eggs ($25)

What is it: Grosvenor Hotel's pastry chef Daniel Grieff has handmade high-quality, couverture chocolate Easter eggs that will put your Creme Eggs to shame. Available in white, milk and dark chocolate, you can even get names engraved for the lucky recipient (it's okay if that person is yourself).

Where you can get it: Grosvenor Hotel Grocery and Bottle Shop. Available throughout Easter.

3. Piccolina Gelateria x Baker D Chirico hot cross buns gelato

What is it: Baker D Chirico's at it again with the gelato collabs. This time they've teamed up with Hawthorn's Piccolina Gelateria to create a hot cross bun flavoured gelato. The gelateria has torn and mashed the bakery's spicy buns into their gelato, for a rich dessert take on the traditional treat.

Where you can get it: Piccolina Gelateria, 802 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn. Available until Easter Sunday.

4. Saké's Dragon Egg ($110, part of the Easter Chef's signature menu)

What is it: The boss-level of Easter eggs. The Dragon Egg from Sake Restaurant and bar is a Valrhona dark chocolate egg filled with a crunchy toasted chocolate crumble and edible soil, passionfruit yoghurt chips, chocolate mousse, passionfruit curd and mango caramel. This decadent dessert is then propped up on a base of passionfruit ice cream. If that's not epic enough for, the dessert will be served with liquid nitrogen when it arrives at the table.

Where you can get it: Saké Restaurant and Bar, 100 St Kilda Rd, Southbank. Available throughout Easter.

5. Om Nom Kitchen and Dessert Bar's Egg-dulgence ($30)

What is it: Inside that 58 per cent cacao, see-through Easter egg, you'll crack into chef Christy Tania's flavoursome combo: banana milk chocolate brownie bits, chocolate cream, caramel toffee and roasted mixed nuts. Almost too pretty to eat.

Where you can get it: Om Nom pop-up shop at Adelphi Hotel foyer, 187 Flinders Lane.
