Time Out says

A small theatre in the heart of the CBD, The Butterfly Club features award-winning cocktail bars, an enormous collection of kitsch, and more shows than it's sensible or prudent to count. Known to performers the world over as Melbourne’s home of cabaret, it boasts many illustrious alumni, including Tim Minchin, Sammy J & Randy, Geraldine Quinn and Eddie Perfect. The club is also well-known to host budding cabaret talents before they hit the big time.

The Butterfly Club operates as a year-round arts festival, so it's perfectly ok to make visiting a habit. Its cosy nooks and couches are ideal for keeping warm and catching up with friends, the kitsch art on the walls makes it easy to keep the conversation going, and with up to fifty performances a week, a great show is never far away.

Brendan Hancock: F*ck Around and Find Out if it’s Any Good

  • Comedy festival

Brendan Hancock is a host at Pedestrian.TV, one half of the duo behind the Two Queers Comedy Festival and a RAW Comedy state finalist. Having long been a regular at comedy clubs around Australia, Hancock is now making an illustrious Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut at the Butterfly Club. F*ck Around and Find Out if it’s Any Good is a show about, shockingly, figuring out whether their material is any good. But really, it’s about a small town country boy who wants to become the greatest showman in all of Oz. Expect depictions of depraved debauchery, camp numbers and a digital Yamaha played with the grandeur of a grand piano. Hancock’s show runs from April 12-21, you can find out more and book your tickets here.  After more rib-splitting laughs? Check out who else is performing at the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
