Melbourne's much-loved arthouse movie complex, Cinema Nova, boasts a whopping 16 screens devoted to new release arthouse and upmarket commercial films, plus regular films events, special screenings and festivals. It has been around since 1992.
If you arrive early, take in the view over Lygon Street with a coffee or cocktail in hand at the Cinema Nova bar, or make a whole night of it with dinner, drinks and a flick.
Monday is their famed discount day – regular tickets are $7 for sessions before 4pm and $10 for sessions after 4pm, except on public holidays. And now, to celebrate their 30th birthday in 2022, they'll be reverting to 90s prices for one day only on August 29. Book in a session from August 24, and you'll pay only $5 all day.
