The circus ring is reborn in this Melbourne Festival show from the UK's NoFit State
NoFit State is a company known for its immersive performances, which have audience members standing and moving around the space as the show evolves. But in Lexicon, they're celebrating the invention of the circus ring by Philip Astley, 250 years ago. The company will be mashing up the old and the new and pushing the boundaries of circus in the Royal Botanic Gardens for Melbourne Festival.
Melbourne Festival artistic director Jonathan Holloway told Time Out: "It’s great quality performance, but it’s that thing about circus that transcends the tricks, makes it immersive, beautiful theatre rather than just ‘wow, you can juggle’."
