Hold onto the edge of your seats; you don’t know what’ll be lurking around you.
Malthouse Theatre in collaboration with Stephanie Lake Company presents Monsters, a thrilling one-act monologue intertwining theatre and dance that’s set to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
Centering around a woman who goes searching for her sister after she has disappeared beneath a sinkhole in Melbourne, Monsters shows what happens when you’re left alone with your thoughts, and the real and imagined monsters you may come across as you journey deeper into the darkness.
Created by writer Emme Hoy, director Matther Lutton and choreographer Stephanie Lake, Monsters stars Alison Whyte (Cloudstreet, The Bloody Chamber) alongside dancers Samantha Hines, Josie Weise and Kimball Wong, who move in and out of a gothic set to illuminate visions of what the woman discovers in the depths of the earth (and wishes she didn’t). Fans of Darkfield and Ghost Stories will relish in this nightmarish tale.
Monsters is a Malthouse Theatre and Stephanie Lake Company co-production. While Malthouse is a beloved Melbourne institution, Stephanie Lake Company is currently touring two major productions – Colossus and Manifesto – both of which have received rave reviews.
