Were you one of those youths who preferred a night in with a round of Monopoly and butterscotch schnapps that you nicked from the rents’ alcohol shelf to a throbbing party? Do you still choose a quiet but fun-filled evening of cocktails and Balderdash over late-night bar hopping and sweaty club dance sessions? Then this afternoon of booze and board games at Golden Gate Hotel will make all your New Year’s Eve dreams come true.
This long-standing South Melbourne pub is hosting a rather unusual party to mark the conclusion of the decade. Partygoers will get to go wild on all of the pub’s board games while they enjoy two hours of bottomless cocktails for only $50. It includes everything from a buzzy Espresso Martini to zingy Mojitos and Margaritas, summery Caprioskas and the party fan favourite, Long Island Iced Tea.
They’re staying on the doing-things-differently train and hosting their NYE party in the afternoon, with two-hour sessions running from noon-6pm. This means you can either tick off your end-of-year celebrations early and snuggle into bed at a reasonable hour, or call the bottomless cocktails pre-drinks and keep the party going until the big countdown and fireworks.
