It's been quite a year, but all good things must come to an end and it's time to kiss 2023 goodbye and welcome 2024 with open arms. Looking for the best way to celebrate? Many of our favourite venues are hosting massive parties so you kick things off with a bang. To help you decide, we've rounded up our top picks below. 

From festivals and club nights to rooftop bars with great views of the fireworks, there's plenty happening around the city – the only thing you have to do is choose, and we recommend doing so quickly so you're not sitting around on December 31 without any fun plans. And don't forget to book in for a feed beforehand so you're not partying on an empty stomach!

On New Year's Eve, this beloved riverside duo is joining forces for an epic 'Tulum Jungle Party' across the two venues. Taking inspiration from the electric parties held in tropical jungles on Mexico’s Yucatán coast, expect an exotic night of eating, drinking, dancing and music. 

There’ll be views of the fireworks, along with new performances from the Huxleys and Discordia, and tunes from some of Melbourne’s best DJs, so you can dance the year away.

It's the moment we've all been waiting for: Lonsdale Street's mega-venue Her is back again with another epic NYE party on the coveted rooftop. This year the theme is 'Midnight in Metallic', with partygoers encouraged to dress in their shiniest garb for a night of dancing under the stars. Enjoy flowing drinks and food from Thai restaurant BKK, plus an avant-garde art  performance by Discordia.

This new two-level Italian dining and drinking space on Chapel Street is hosting a NYE bash that will transport you back in time to your last Euro summer trip. To ring in 2024, Studio Amaro is throwing an 'Amalfi in July' party, filled with Euro dishes and drinks. After sipping on a complimentary bev, attendees can dine a la carte or feast with a special $99 set menu, ​which includes lots of seafood and Mediterranean flavours. Then take the party downstairs to hit the dancefloor as the clock strikes 12.

It's just had a swish revamp, and now this rooftop bar in Carlton is set to throw one of the hottest NYE parties around town. You'll receive a complimentary drink upon arrival and enjoy roaming Italian cicchetti from 7pm-9pm, and there will be food and drinks available to purchase from the à la carte menu. Hope St Radio is soundtracking the night, and the 360-degree views of the city means you'll have a front-row seat to all the fireworks action.

Melbourne's swankiest new rooftop bar is hosting its first-ever NYE party – and you're invited to join in the celebration. In partnership with Maison Perrier-Jouët, Beverly is going all out with a black tie affair that pays homage to the spirit of the '90s Met Gala. Attendees will be treated to a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival, with a curated menu by head chef David Ball. Entertainment comes in the form of DJ Tommy Ohh, and Beverly's breathtaking 270-degree views of the city skyline means you'll be able to take in the spectacular midnight fireworks display.

This brand-spanking-new one-day music festival is by the team behind Runner Up, Colour and Something Unlimited, and it'll feature 14 local and international acts performing across two stages. The festivities will kick off at 3pm on December 31, and there will also be food available to purchase.

This coveted, subterranean cocktail bar in the CBD is putting on a hotly-anticipated NYE event, transforming the stunning venue into a lavish den of entertainment where partgoers will dance long into the early hours. There will be an all-inclusive menu of roving canapés, sparkling wine, beer and a signature Curious cocktail, plus roving entertainers, DJs and pumping dancefloor.

This NYE, make your way through the shiny copper-hued doors of QT Melbourne and up the elevator to discover one of the hottest parties in town. Fresh from a fancy makeover, the venue is hosting a soiree looking over Melbourne's sparkling skyline, complete with endless drinks, a killer line-up of DJs taking care of the dancefloor soundtrack and a feast of food (including oysters shucked to order and a late-night dessert station – yum!).

An award-winning bar and café in South Wharf, the Boatbuilders Yard captures the charm of Melbourne's Maritime precinct with a modern fitout housed inside an original historic shed. Dubbed an "urban beer garden hideaway", Riverland is situated on the banks of the Yarra in the historic Federation Wharf vaults. It's a picturesque spot to say goodbye to 2023 and watch the fireworks while enjoying bottomless beer, wine, cider, bubbles and house spirits alongside canapés.

Instead of dropping a couple of hundred bucks on an expensive drinks package, opt for everyone's fave way to celebrate: a bottomless brunch. Make your way to Port Melbourne for H2o's legendary 'Sunset on the Bay' NYE party. The event is located right on the water's edge, offering amazing and uninterrupted panoramic views over Port Phillip Bay. Opt for general admission tickets, which offer all-inclusive drinks and light cocktail food, or platinum tickets that include access to your own bar, 300-degree water views, private restrooms and a better view of the fireworks.

 Party through the first day of the new year overlooking the picturesque Albert Park lake at Palm Springs NYD party, held at Greenfields, right next to the water. It'll be a day filled with good vibes and great music, as well as tasty food curated by chef Nick Korceba.
