The Theatre Royal Castlemaine has the honour of being one of Australia’s longest-running theatres. Since 1864 the theatre has been keeping Castlemaine entertained, though things have changed a bit since the town’s gold mining days ended.
These days the Theatre Royal offers a program of independent cinema and music as well as European-inspired food and drink. This year's highlights include ABBA tribute band BABBA on March 17, super smooth alt-rocker Dan Sultan on April 12 and UK ska band Bad Manners on May 16. For the full line-up of events check out the Theatre Royal Castlemaine’s website.
