Time Out says

The High Country Victorian town of Benalla is on the Broken River and has become a destination for artists, foodies and history buffs. The town of 10,000 has a great connection to Australia's most infamous bushranger, with numerous sites around the area connected to the legend of Ned Kelly.

Benalla is home to the Wall to Wall Festival, during which street artists take over the town and paint colourful murals on buildings on the main street and down alleys and side streets. Venture off the beaten path to find works by some of Australia's finest street artists.

The town has also become a foodie destination, with local produce and High Country wines taking pride of placce.
