Elmwood Cemetery says
In 1905, Memphis attorneys Josiah T. Settle and Benjamin F. Booth, both of whom rest at Elmwood, argued against Tennessee Hancock Law in the little discussed Mary Morrison trial. The law mandated "separate but equal" on streetcars in the state's larger cities. Join us on Saturday, May 21st at 10:30 am to hear Wayne Dowdy, Manager of the History Department at the Memphis Public Library, speak more about this important case. Coffee and donuts will be available to attendees and admission is $10 per person. For more information, call 901-774-3212.
