The groundbreaking new “Art after Stonewall, 1969–1989” exhibition headlining Frost Art Museum FIU’s 2019 Art Basel season showcases more than 200 works that explore the profound impact of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ) liberation movement on our visual culture. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the exhibit was previously split up between two venues in New York City and makes its Miami debut under one roof for the first time ever. Featuring works by icons like Warhol, Arbus, Chicago, Wong, Hockney, Riggs, Lankton, Mapplethorpe and many more, the comprehensive exhibit opens to the public this weekend with a reception and lecture from curator Jonathan Weinberg.
