About Ben Watt
Best known for his twenty years as songwriter-performer-producer with Tracey Thorn in alt-pop duo Everything But The Girl, Ben Watt is also an award-winning solo artist, a prize-nominated non-fiction writer, and an international club DJ and radio presenter.

In 1983 Watt formed alt-pop duo Everything But The Girl with singer-writer-partner Tracey Thorn after meeting each other at Hull University in late 1981. Over the next twenty years they wrote and recorded nine studio albums and sold nine million records, including one platinum and seven gold records in the UK, and a gold record in the US. During this time, Watt also wrote songs for Massive Attack and produced some of Beth Orton’s early records.

Upon dissolving Everything But The Girl, Watt became heavily involved in the London club scene, opening event spaces and working as the house DJ, starting his own record label, and hitting the festival DJ circuit (Good Vibrations, Coachella, Electric Picnic).

2013 saw Watt returning to his solo career, releasing music under his own name for the first time in 31 years. Hendra was released to critical acclaim, and was followed by a tour that took him to North America, Japan, and Australia. His latest release, Fever Dream, is filled with sparkling songs performed with unmannered honesty and forthright lyrics. Watt is joined on the album and on stage by ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. Matthew E White’s rhythm section joins Ben on tour as well.
