Heid E. Erdrich Book Launch says
Heid E. Erdrich will read from her new book, Curator of Ephemera at the New Museum for Archaic Media, and screen "poemeos"—short films and animations collaboratively made from select works in the collection.

Heid E. Erdrich writes from the present into the future where human anxiety lives. Many of her poems engage ekphrasis around the visual work of contemporary Anishinaabe artists. A central trope in this collection is the mixtape, an ephemeral form that Erdrich explores in its role of carrying the romantic angst of American couples. These poems recognize our love of technology and how extraction industries on indigenous lands (that technology requires) threaten our future and obscure the realities of indigenous peoples who know what it is to survive apocalypse.

Heid E. Erdrich is Ojibwe enrolled at Turtle Mountain. She is the author of five poetry collections, most recently Curator of Ephemera at the New Museum for Archaic Media. Heid works as an interdisciplinary artist and scholar, a visual arts curator, and editor. Her collaborative award-winning poem videos and animations are created with an all-indigenous crew. She has won grants and honors from the Loft, Minnesota State Arts Board, First Peoples Fund, Bush Foundation among others. Heid teaches in the Augsburg College Low-residency MFA in Creative Writing program.
