Eat My Words Bookstore says
Nordeast Minneapolis (A History) is a modern survey of the former city of St. Anthony, annexed into Minneapolis in 1872. The historically working-class neighborhood has retained its identity into today as Northeast Minneapolis, or 'Nordeast' to its residents. Northeast Minneapolis began as an industrial hub that attracted immigrant labor from Eastern Europe and beyond, and because of its diverse labor and cultural institutions and communities, it grew and prospered despite the challenges presented by Prohibition, the Great Depression and World War II.

Today, Nordeast embraces its status as a neighborhood where art galleries, independent theaters, live music venues, world-class ethnic restaurants, taprooms and historic churches all exist within mere blocks of one another. The story of Northeast Minneapolis is not just the story of Minneapolis—it’s the story of America, and mirrors the immigration stories of urban centers around the country.

Sherman Wick and Holly Day are the husband-and-wife team behind the books Walking Twin Cities (Menasha Ridge/Wilderness Press) and The Insiders’ Guide to the Twin Cities (Globe-Pequot Press). Sherman Wick graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in history, while Holly Day’s other books include Music Theory for Dummies, Music Composition for Dummies, Guitar All-in-One for Dummies, Piano All-in-One for Dummies, Shakira, and the recently-released novel The Book Of.
