Annual Springtime Seed Swap says
Join Chef Jess Rice of MPTL Raw Foods and Compost Nashville for a Springtime Seed Swap at The Greenhouse Bar in Nashville! This event is FREE.

Compost Nashville will be bringing some of their compost to share with participants and our friends at the 12 South Farmers Market will be contributing some fun swag! First come, first served.

Here's how it works:

A seed swap is when a group of people trade, barter, swap, exchange or gives away their extra seeds, soil, compost, seedlings and plants.

Sometimes, the seeds are saved by the individual and sometimes they are commercially produced. Many wonderful heirlooms are often exchanged at seed swaps!

Ex: if you bring 5 packets of seeds, you can take 5 packets of seeds/compost/etc. If you have a bunch of little planters, starter plants, organic soil, etc... that works too!

My personal feeling is that nothing should be bought or sold at a seed swap and there should never be a fee for attending or participating in a swap. The purpose of this event is to bring people together to make new friends AND help each other have unique and sustainable gardens this spring/summer.

Let's play in the dirt and help each other grow our own food this spring!

For the upcoming seed swap, I would like to encourage participants to focus on seeds and plants that can be eaten; such as vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, grain crops, etc. Food is one of the most important aspects of being self-sufficient and sustainable. But, If you are a flower aficionado, bring them instead! We'll all end up with a bunch of unique plants and other gardening-related items no matter what.

Don't have anything to contribute? Come anyway!

First time gardener? Please come! Other people attending may have some great advice for you.

Cocktails and food are available at Greenhouse for purchase if you're thirsty and hungry. :)

**Please do NOT bring GMO seeds**
