Although known as "The Father of Woodstock", Artie Kornfeld's many accomplishments in the Music business both precede and follow Woodstock.In his 50+ years in the Music business, he is arguably the most diverse person in modern Music history.As a musician, and a member of The Changin' Times, Artie toured with Sonny and Cher on the "I Got You Babe" Tour.His skills as a songwriter have earned him Billboard hits with songs such as "The Rain, The Park & Other Things", (The Cowsills) "The Pied Piper" (The Changin' Times, Crispian St.Peters, Cher) and "Dead Man's Curve" (Jan and Dean) to name a few.As a label executive, Artie was the first ever VP of Rock music at Capitol Records in 1967, followed by time spent at Mercury and Roulette.While at all 3 labels, Artie was responsible for signing/developing/producing the careers of Artists such as Debbie Harry/Blondie, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, April Wine, Survivor, Sheryl Crow and Tracy Chapman.He's filled the role of Manager/Tour Manager for artists such as Triumph and Survivor, and was responsible for taking Survivor to a#1 hit single with "Eye of the Tiger"Finally, as a Radio promoter, Artie has had stunning success in breaking artists to radio, and creating the Rock radio format.Notable achievements include Neil Young, The Police and Tracy Chapman.In 2009, Artie wrote the book "The Pied Piper of Woodstock", which details many of his above achievements.It's a fascinating look into the Rock culture, and embodies what Artie calls "The Spirit of Woodstock".
