Far too many of us have been warning that we are only a bullet away from becoming a hashtag...and here we are. We will not take this in silence. We will fight back. We will challenge the narrative that Nashville is exempt from the systemic criminalization of black people, a system that ends in death. We will challenge the narrative that blames Jocques for his own death, that dehumanizes him and disrespects his memory, his family, and his community. We will not accept policing that does not serve or protect, but rather oppresses. We will not accept governance and leadership that is more concerned with power and appearances that compassion and human decency. We turning up. Join us!

Rally begins at 5:30 on the Plaza. Too many people still don't know what's going on and we will change that together. We demand justice, and we demand it NOW. This is a continuation of them movement begun last week, so if you missed out then, here's your chance to become a part.

On Friday February 10th, Jocques Scott Clemmons of Nashville was gunned down by Nashville police in Cayce Homes. Mayor Megan Barry and Metro Nashville Police Department have prided themselves in saying that Nashville, the "It City", is not like other cities blatantly ignoring the cries of black Nashville residents saying that Nashville is no different. It's been WAY too quiet in Nashville in response to Jocques' murder. It's time to turn up in the city and say until we get justice there will be NO PEACE.
