Live Stream On Concert Window: Liz Johnson Schafer says
Our August 26 Snap on 2&4 concert will feature jazz vocalist Liz Johnson Schafer in a performance she's calling the Greatest Hits Show -- and we will be streaming live on Concert Window!

Joining Liz will be Kelli Cox on piano, Marcus Finnie on drums, Jonathan Wires on bass, and Mike Casteel on trumpet.

An Illinois native, Liz began her musical study at age 6 with piano and moved to flute and then alto saxophone in high school and college, playing in local jazz bands. After college she moved to Nashville, where she found the Nashville Jazz Workshop and began several years of intensive study of voice and improvisation. She moved from student to accomplished performer and jazz artist, performing regularly in Nashville and around the country. Her second CD, Playground, was released in 2003, and received national acclaim and airplay. In 2004 Liz was invited to perform at the Montreux Switzerland Jazz Festival as a semi finalist in the international vocal jazz competition. Her third CD, released in 2012, is entitled Joy Unspeakable.

Liz earned a Master's degree in Vocal Pedagogy from Belmont University, and has served on the faculty at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music and Trevecca University. She currently operates a private vocal studio and teaches vocal technique, improvisation, and literature classes at the Nashville Jazz Workshop. She also coordinates the vocal program at the NJW's Summer Jazz Camp.

Joining Liz will be Kelli Cox on piano, Marcus Finnie on drums, Jonathan Wires on bass, and Rod McGaha on trumpet.
