Andrew Jackson's Hermitage says
Bring your kids for a fun and educational performance of “Freedom Songs: The Music of Black History,” with the national production company Bright Star Theatre! From the work songs of slavery (“Hoe Emma Hoe”) and the hymns of the Underground Railroad (“Follow the Drinking Gourd”) to the blues of Beale Street and the anthems of the Civil Rights Movement, actor/singers will tell the stories behind these famous and forgotten hymns, work songs and musical styles from across continents, genres and centuries. Following the program, kids will have a chance to make their own musical instruments and perform a grand finale parade! Complimentary cupcakes will be served.
