Preservation Hall says
George Lewis was the spearhead of the traditional jazz revival of which Preservation Hall was the epicenter. England's Sammy Rimington and New Orleans native Tommy Sancton are his best-known proteges. As young men, both clarinetists learned at George's feet and played at his side in Preservation Hall. Each one has since carried the message of George's music, and the New Orleans traditional style around the world. Their reunion in this historic place makes this a landmark event. Considering the large number of foreign and American traditional jazz fans who will be in town at this moment-midway between the French Quarter Festival and Jazzfest-this special concert is likely to be a sellout.
