Preservation Hall says
Join award winning, New Orleans native, trumpet virtuoso Christian Scott and his full eight-piece band for an intimate midnight residency at Preservation Hall as he celebrates the release of his new album "Stretch Music."

Christian Scott is a two-time Edison Award winning (2010 and 2012) and Grammy Award nominated jazz trumpeter, composer and producer. Since 2002 he has released seven critically acclaimed studio recordings and two live albums. His Grammy nominated international recording debut, Rewind That, was called “arguably the most remarkable premiere the genre has seen in the last decade” by Billboard Magazine. NPR has proclaimed, “Christian Scott ushers a new era of jazz” and Jazz Times Magazine has heralded him “as the Architect of a new commercially viable fusion” and Jazz’s young style God.”

He is the nephew of jazz innovator and legendary New Orleans saxophonist Donald Harrison Jr. and the grandson of legendary Big Chief, Donald Harrison Sr. He began his musical tutelage under the direction of his uncle at the age of thirteen. He is an alumnus of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and the Berklee College of Music.

In June 2015, Christian became part of the Ropeadope Music family of stellar artists. The Fall of 2015 marks Christian’s debut release on Ropeadope titled “Christian Scott Stretch Music.”

Net proceeds from the performance will benefit the Preservation Hall Foundation’s Education, Outreach, Archival, and Legacy Programming.
