It's summertime. The only way people come out now is if there's a super ultra mega kick ass once in a lifetime spectular event. I think I put one together this week. Mark McGrain, trombonist for Plunge, has been a veterian of the NOLA improvised scene since before I could crawl. Coming up with a lineup of musicians whom he's never played with is a damn near impossible task. Donald Surtain: I'll go out on a limb and say he's the best violin player in the city, classical, jazz, experimental, and other wise. He can do it all. Kevin O'Day of the Live Animals and Midnight Disturbers is one of the most sought after drummers around. With the chops of Johnny V. and the power of Stanton, you'll be hard pressed to find any drummer who can do it better. Matt Booth: The new bassist in town who's taken the modern jazz world by storm. If you don't know this guy yet, you should totally get hip. He's totally in the pocket for anything you can throw his way. Come support these fantastic musicians for a night of improvised music. You won't be let down.
