The event creator says
Sigma Alpha Kappa is hosting a benefit concert at the Neutral Ground featuring Spare Change NOLA, No True Scottsmen, and Chris Endicott.

Music is everything to us so it's hard to imagine what our lives would be without it. The sounds of New Orleans have not only inspired our music but provided us light on a rainy day or even just made a great playlist for an all night dance party. This is why we hold music education near and dear to our hearts.

Much like ourselves, The Roots of Music believes music has the power to transform lives. The Roots of Music empowers the youth of New Orleans through music education, academic support, and mentorship while preserving and promoting the unique musical and cultural heritage of New Orleans.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to The Roots of Music to help further the wonderful work they do within this city.

The Roots of Music serves kids ages 9-14 from low-income households — and to reduce common barriers to participation for this population, they also provide students with round-trip transportation and a hot meal 5 days a week, 12 months a year. The Roots of Music program provides music history and theory as well as instrumental instruction and ensemble performance preparation. They also provide academic tutoring, mentoring and homework assistance. Participation in The Roots of Music is free for all students. The program is located in the heart of the French Quarter at The Cabildo, a Louisiana State Museum property in Jackson Square. Their goal is to provide our kids with the resources they need to lead positive, productive, self-reliant lives.

Come Support No True Scotsman, Chris Endicott, and remember to $pare some ¢hange and we'll see y'all at 9pm April 8th!
