The 2016 Save Our Cemeteries lecture series will begin with our first lecture on February, 25, 2016 at 6:30pm, with a lecture by Cheryl Gerber at Lake Lawn Funeral Home. This event is free and open to the public.

Her lecture will focus on death rituals and burial customs in New Orleans, which is the focus of her recently published book: New Orleans - Life and Death in the Big Easy.

Cheryl Gerber is a freelance journalist and documentary photographer working in New Orleans, where she was born. Today, she is a regular contributor to The New York Times, the Associated Press, New Orleans Magazine and Louisiana Cultural Vistas. She has been staff photographer for Gambit Weekly since 1994. During the past two decades, Gerber has won several awards from the New Orleans Press Club for her work on social issues and news photography.

Light refreshments and a book signing will follow the lecture. Copies of New Orleans - Life and Death in the Big Easy will be available for purchase.
