Eloise is a rawther busy girl, but luckily for us she’s made time for a fawncy exhibition at the New-York Historical Society. At "Eloise at the Museum," fans of the precocious girl can view more than 75 objects, including original manuscripts, sketchbook, portraits and vintage dolls. These works of art—some rarely shown—display the evolution of the character as well as the collaboration between author Kay Thompson and illustrator Hilary Knight that made the little star prance off the page.

Children will step right into Eloise’s world when they enter a recreation of the grand lobby at the Plaza Hotel, the mischievous New Yorker’s "bawthroom" and her bedroom, which will feature a storytelling corner. A kid-Friendly audio guide is narrated by illustrator Joana Avillez and tots can pick up fake hotel house phones to hear actress Bernadette Peters read excerpts from the books.

Activities such as Eloise Storytime (Tue–Fri 2pm), screenings of Eloise at the Plaza (July 16, August 13 and September 10) and a presentation on the stolen and recovered Eloise portrait (October 1) will complement the exhibition throughout its run. At Eloise’s Rawther Fancy Party, families can participate in a weekend of art projects, storytelling time and get books signed by Hilary Knight (September 30 and October 1).

A special brunch with treats and drinks will be held in the New-York Historical Society’s restaurant, Storico, followed by a tour of the exhibition and a special story time. (select Wednesdays, $45). Eloise would be quite impressed by the whole affair.
Eloise at the Museum will be on view at the New-York Historical Society though October 9, 2017.
