At only nine years old, actor Jorge Vega has already lent his voice to the character "Ogre Doug" on Nick Jr.'s upcoming Wallykazam! series, appeared in four short films, played the role of Ben in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Shine Tour and more. Now, he's taking on the big screen with his role as Jorge in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and he's never felt cooler!
Who was your favorite actor to work with while filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2?
I spent most of my time working with Andrew Garfield, but Paul Giamatti was great too! My scenes with him look scary, but they were actually funny and fun to film.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I dream about this all the time! I wish I could be a shapeshifter! I would have so much fun with that power!
Who do you consider to be a real life superhero and why?
People that stand up for other people or help those who are in need.
We understand that your character Jorge gets bullied during the film. What advice would you give to kids that are being picked on?
Tell your parents or any adult you trust, and if they don't listen tell someone else! Bullying is not right; there is no way around it. Nobody should judge anybody based on what they like, where they were born or how they look. We are all different and that is great!
Did you find that you and the character you played in the film share a lot of similarities?
I think so. I reacted just like I would if I was being bullied. Thankfully Spider-Man came to my rescue, I'm really not sure how I would react if it happened in real life though. I have thought about it, and all I can come up with is kick and scream! They named my character Jorge, which I thought was pretty cool. I am also a Spider-man fan.
Did anything funny happen behind the scenes during filming? Tell us a story!
The funniest parts for me were the Rhino scenes, but I can't tell you what they are! Paul Giamatti is really funny!
Are you a big fan of Marvel comics?
Yes I am! My second favorite superhero is Iron Man. I just love all the technology! I have always liked Spider-Man because he doesn't use any weapons and doesn't kill anyone.
What's harder? Being an actor, or being a 4th grader?
Wow! 4th grade is tough, but I think doing both is the hard part. If you take out homework from the equation, then being an actor is harder! I have my mom to help me with schedules and priorities, so I can't complain. I love school and my friends and want to stay in school for as long as I can.
