The kids have spoken, and their choices for 2013's best author and illustrator are, respectively, Wimpy Kid's Jeff Kinney and Fancy Nancy's Robin Preiss Glasser.

Author-illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser and author Jeff Kinney are the winners of the 6th Annual Children's Choice Awards, which were announced at a gala event on Monday, May 13, kicking off Children's Book Week 2013. It's no surprise that Glasser, best known as the artist who gave life to the Fancy Nancy books, and Jeff Kinney, mastermind of the insanely popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, won best illustrator and best author of the year, considering that this book prize is decided solely by kids and teens (a whopping 1,000,000 readers voted on this year's choices). This year's winning books are Nighttime Ninja by Barbara DaCosta and Ed Young, in the kindergarten to second grade group; Bad Kitty for President by Nick Bruel, in the third to fourth grade category; Dork Diaries 4: Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess, in the fifth to six grade slot; and The Fault in Our Stars, which won the best teen book prize. Congratulations to all! Honor the spirit of the awards by picking up one of these titles at an indie bookstore or library near you—and by catching one of the many cool Children's Book Week events we rounded up.
