Remember all those Italian villages selling houses off for as little as a euro? Well, turns out Airbnb bought one in Sicily, then renovated it. Now the short-term rental website is looking for someone to live in the admittedly quite chic property, rent-free, for an entire year.
So, what do you have to do in return? Let out one of the bedrooms via Airbnb. That’s it. You’ll get the rest of the gorgeous three-storey villa in the village of Sambuca to yourself, and you’ll also get to keep all of the earnings from hosting in the spare room. Win-win-win.
Done out in bright summer shades, the house has a spacious en-suite master bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom and a ‘work area’. There’s a mezzanine bedroom (presumably the one you’ll offer guests, unless you’re feeling particularly generous) and, on the third floor, a second living room with an extra bed. That means, at a stretch, the property would fit two adults, two children and one or two guests.
Sounds like the dream, right? There really aren’t many other conditions – you don’t have to speak Italian (although it helps), and you do have to be over 18. As long as you live there for at least three consecutive months, and rent out the spare bedroom for nine, the place could be yours for the year. Find out how to apply here.
