After a year of having to splash out on spenny PCRs and LFTs, travellers now don’t have to take any at all

People of the UK (and, of course, anyone wanting to visit the UK), your holiday has just that little bit less stressful. Double-vaccinated arrivals no longer need to take a Covid test within 48 hours of arrival in the country. That means fully-jabbed travellers don’t have to take any tests – either before they come to the UK or once they’ve arrived.

The news is a welcome boost to holidaymakers ahead of both February half term and the Easter holidays. It removes the heavy financial toll of Covid travel tests (particularly on families and groups) – not to mention the extra stress they cause. Just think: no more being ripped off by dodgy test companies (in the UK, anyway). Simply dreamy.

Unvaccinated travellers, however, are still required to take a lateral flow test on both the second and eighth day after arrival. The passenger locator form, which all arrivals are currently required to fill out, has also been drastically simplified.

You may, of course, still need Covid travel tests to get out of the UK. It’s best to thoroughly check the requirements of your destination country well in advance of your date of travel.

Did you see London City Airport is launching loads of cheap and sunny new routes this summer?
