The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traded foggy London for sunny LA when they stepped away from their roles in the royal family last year, busying themselves with their new lives as parents and A-list celebrities. And now, in an instance of art imitating art, their wax figures have also left the royal family in order to yuk it up with some of Hollywood's hottest stars.
While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making the most of their so-called Megxit, their likenesses at London's storied Madame Tussauds have also been distanced from the wax Queen and perpetually grinning William, Kate and Charles.
Instead, like their real-world counterparts, they've relocated to Hollywood. More specifically, they've been moved to Tussaud's "Awards Party" zone, which recreates a lively Hollywood party, complete with dead-eyed celebrities forever smiling for photos on a red carpet with complete strangers. The news first appeared in UK paper The Sun.
The pair joins such Hollywood royalty as George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who remain frozen in an eternal selfie pose despite having recently split.
The newly liberated royals are hardly the only Brits invited to the eerily lifelike Hollywood soiree. They join a houndstooth-sporting Eddie Redmayne and well-groomed Benedict Cumberbatch, a fetching Dame Helen Mirren and a tuxedoed Colin Firth. David and Victoria Beckham are also on hand, as is Tom Hardy, whose figure is advertised as having a "beating heart and soft, warm torso," in case things weren't unsettling enough amid the sea of shimmering celebrity mannequins.
Those wishing to gaze upon the newly sparse Royals collection and play paparazzi in Hollywood can do so soon: After a long period of closure, Madame Tussauds London is scheduled to reopen May 17.
Like all all Hollywood royalty, Harry and Meghan have a Netflix deal.
